College of Education for Pure Sciences Holds the Master's Thesis Defence of Mustafa Ghani Khalil

The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Al-Muthanna held the defence of the master's thesis of student Mustafa Ghani Khalil, entitled "Genetic Characterization of Beta-Lactamase Resistance Genes and Antimicrobial Susceptibility in Salmonella Isolates".

The thesis aimed to isolate and identify Salmonella from various food sources using culture methods, determine serotypes using the Vitek technique, determine antibiotic-resistance patterns, confirm the identity of isolates molecularly by detecting the Salmonella-specific invA gene, study the phylogenetic relationship of local isolates compared with international isolates registered in the NCBI database using gene sequencing, and detect the antibiotic-resistance genes blaTEM and blaCTX-M responsible for resistance to β-lactam antibiotics using molecular methods.
