The Department of Mathematics was established in the College of Education at the University of Al-Muthanna in the academic year 2012–2013, as a cornerstone for preparing specialized scientific staff in mathematics able to support the educational process and contribute to academic and community development.. In the academic year 2014–2015, the college underwent an important organizational restructuring in which the College of Education was divided into two independent colleges:: the first for the scientific departments, named the College of Education for Pure Sciences, and the second for the humanities departments, named the College of Education for Humanities.. As a result, the Department of Mathematics became one of the main departments of the College of Education for Pure Sciences, continuing its educational, research and pedagogical mission.. The department seeks to qualify graduates with high competence in mathematics, both theoretical and applied, with a focus on preparing them to work in educational and research institutions and to provide specialized mathematical consultancy in service of society..
The Department of Mathematics promotes scientific research and develops students' analytical and logical thinking skills through modern academic programmes and advanced curricula aligned with labour-market requirements and academic quality standards..
