College of Education for Pure Sciences Holds a Master's Thesis Defence<\/p>\n
The College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Al-Muthanna held the defence of the master's thesis of student Athraa Ali Hussein, entitled "Isolation and Identification of Leishmania tropica and Evaluation of Its Biological Viability Using Nanoparticles".<\/p>\n
The study aimed to isolate, identify and culture the parasite on two media (NNN and RPMI),<\/p>\n
to prepare nano-extracts from selected plant sources using an environmentally friendly method,<\/p>\n
to evaluate the viability of Leishmania tropica cultured on the two media using a cytotoxicity assay,<\/p>\n
and to evaluate the biological activity of the two plant extracts individually and after their preparation in nano form using silver nitrate nanoparticles, identifying the plant nano-extract most effective in reducing the parasite's viability.<\/p>\n
