The Department of Mathematics at the College of Education, University of Al-Muthanna, was established in the academic year 2012–2013 to serve as a cornerstone in preparing scientific cadres specialized in mathematics, capable of supporting the educational process and contributing to academic and community development.

In the academic year 2014–2015, the college underwent an important organizational restructuring, which resulted in the separation of the College of Education into two independent colleges: the first for scientific departments under the name College of Education for Pure Sciences, and the second for humanities departments under the name College of Education for Humanities. As a result of this change, the Department of Mathematics became one of the main departments in the College of Education for Pure Sciences, continuing to fulfill its educational, research, and pedagogical mission.

The department strives to graduate students with high competence in mathematics, both theoretical and applied, with a focus on preparing them to work in educational and research institutions, as well as enabling them to provide specialized consultations in the field of mathematics to serve the community.

The Department of Mathematics works to promote scientific research and develop students’ analytical and logical thinking skills through modern academic programs and advanced curricula that align with labor market requirements and academic quality standards.
