The Department of Biology aspires to international recognition in scientific research and teaching through academic quality, and to local recognition for supplying the labour market with highly competent scientific staff.

Raising the competence of biologists and of the life sciences in society and supporting the various scientific disciplines with high-calibre graduates who contribute effectively to scientific progress, and developing ways to build biologists qualified to the highest level in teaching and training who help raise biological thinking among learners.
